Creating a Sight Room

A Sight room is deployed from a Sight template and represents a physical location with devices you want to monitor. Each room inherits the device configuration from its template, and you provide the specific network details (IP addresses, hostnames) for each device in the room.

Prerequisites

  • A Sight template must already exist (see Creating a Sight Template/)
  • Administrator or room-creation permissions in Innomesh Room Manager
  • Network details (IP addresses or hostnames) for the devices in the room

Creating the Room

  1. Navigate to the Rooms page in Room Manager.
  2. Click Add New Room.
  3. Enter a room name that identifies the physical location (e.g., “Boardroom 3.01”, “Lecture Theatre A”).
  4. Select the Sight template on which to base the room.
  5. Select the zone for the room.
  6. Click Create.

Configuring Device Details

After creating the room, configure the specific details for each device:

  1. Open the room by clicking its name in the Rooms list.
  2. For each device inherited from the template, enter the device-specific details:
    • IP Address or Hostname for network communication
    • Port if different from the default
    • Credentials if the device requires authentication (see Password Management/)
  3. Save the room configuration.
📝 Note
Sight rooms do not require a software version selection. The platform automatically manages software updates, delivering new drivers and bug fixes behind the scenes with backwards compatibility maintained.

After Deployment

Once deployed, the Sight room begins monitoring the configured devices. You can view the room’s status in:

  • Portal Rooms page: Shows the room’s overall operational status
  • Room Support View: Provides detailed device status and diagnostic tools
  • Hotlist: Displays any alerts triggered by monitored devices

Room Options

From the room options menu, you can:

  • Edit device details (IP addresses, credentials)
  • Launch XPanel for remote control (if an XPanel has been uploaded)
  • Download JSON to export the room configuration
  • Duplicate the room to quickly set up a similar location
  • Delete the room
